Thunderbird Club Monthly Meeting

January 9, 2010
The January meeting of the CCTC club was held at the Iron Cactus Restaurant on January 9, 2010 at 12:30 pm following lunch. CTCC President, Bob Roberts, presided over the brief business meeting.
Those Attending:
Buddy & Doris Cox, Ron & Betty Harris, Doug & Cathy Kuhlman, David & Mary McKenzie, Bob & Tania Roberts, and Ron & Kim Sellers.
Treasurer’s Report:
Barbara Clark sent a message that all dues have been paid for 2010, and the balance in the checking account is $1,141.80.
Old Business:
Bob reminded everyone about the 2010 Planning Meeting on January 23, which will be held jointly with the ATO club, at the home of Tom & Christine Cain. Per previous email, please bring a light appetizer.
There was a discussion about the VCTI Regional to be held in Dallas, June 10 – 13. Buddy & Doris Cox have already registered and are hoping that more members will join them. Information is available on the VCTI website.
New Business:
New officers started their duties this month. Kim Sellers, Secretary and Sid Sokol, Treasurer.
Ron Sellers discussed recent articles in the Austin American-Statesman inviting local car clubs to submit information about their group, which would be featured in the automobile section of the Saturday paper. He will pull together an article and send it in.

Bob Roberts, called the meeting to order.

First,
Bob thanked the Cains for, once again, hosting the planning meeting at their
home. The Cains thanked all the members who participated and brought delicious
appetizers and desserts.
·
Next,
Bob made the suggestion that ATO members may also want to join the CCTC club.
Membership applications are located on their web site above or he can email a copy
to you, upon request.
·
We
went through the 2010 calendar and set dates for monthly events, and also
discussed other annual area events which we might attend individually. NOTE:
This was a joint planning session with the ATO club, therefore, all events are
open for participation from both clubs.
·
Gene
Clark introduced guests from the Oklahoma City Thunderbird Club who were
visiting in Austin. Arlan & Betty
Smith. He is their local president and
well known in the area for his involvement with Thunderbirds.

ACTION ITEM: Bob Roberts will send ATO Secretary a list of the area
car club events once they have posted to the web and Deborah will update their
Calendar of events to include them.

were agreed to and will be posted to our Events Calendar:

13 - Saturday Noon – 4 PM. ATO will host a car show at the Hill Country Pasta
House restaurant, located at 3519 RR 620. Note:
This date is tentative. Rick will coordinate with the restaurant owners to
confirm.

March
27-28 – All weekend. Packard show in Salado. Contact Bob Roberts for more
information.
o
March
28 – Sunday. Open car show at Mulligan’s restaurant on RR 620, near the Lakeway
entrance. Contact Guy Saunders for more information.
o
April
17 – Saturday. Noon - ??? Bob and Tania will host an outing to their ranch
outside of Llano. They will provide lunch. This should be a great time for a
drive through the Hill Country in the height of bluebonnet season.

23 – 25. Annual New Braunfels Swap meet.

April
29 – May 2. Annual Pate Swap meet at the Texas Motor Speedway, north of Fort
Worth.

May
1 – Saturday. 10:00 AM – 2 PM. GTACC Auto Show at Sun City Community Center in
Georgetown.

May
15 – Saturday. Day trip to San Marcos
and the Dick Burdick Antique Auto museum.

June
10 – 13. VTCI Regional meet Texas Motor Speedway.

June
12 – Saturday. Brunch at the Oasis Restaurant. Guy Saunders will make the
reservations. Meet at 10:45 AM to get good parking.

16 – 20. CTCI National Meet in Dayton, OH.

– No event scheduled, due to heat.

– No event scheduled, due to heat.

September
?? – Fall car show at Mulligan’s restaurant, near the Lakeway entrance. Guy

25 – Saturday. TENTATIVE. Ron Sellers to coordinate a possible overnighter to
San Antonio. Main purpose would be to display our cars for the patients at the
Brook Army Medical Center.

3 – Sunday. 10:30 AM – 2 PM. All Ford
Picnic at Berry Springs Park outside of Georgetown. Sponsored by the Capitol
City Early Ford V8 club.

October
15 – Saturday. Day trip and winery tour to Mandola’s in Driftwood. Charles and
Linda Chauvin will coordinate.
o
October
24 – Saturday. Rolling Sculpture Car Show at the Hill Country Galleria, RR 620
at Hwy 71.
o
November
6 – Saturday. Day trip to La Grange Airport to watch vintage aircraft fly-in, a
BBQ lunch fundraiser for local charities, and social gathering at Rock and
Deborah’s home after lunch.

November
13 – Veteran’s Weekend Car Show in Bastrop. More details to be provided later
in the year.
