THE CAPITOL CITY THUNDERBIRD CLUB
PRESENTS
THE 2012 SOUTH CENTRAL REGIONAL CONVENTION
Ok fellow Thunderbirders, it will soon be time to join the Capital City Thunderbird Club in Austin when we host the South Central Regional Convention. In order to get “Lost in the Fifties” we will need your help to pull this off. The regional will be held April 12-15, 2012, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, newly remodeled and just waiting for our presence. It’s conveniently located right off Interstate 35 and has plenty of space to display our Birds. We have a fun packed three days planned, with a plethora of activities for those who can break away from cleaning and polishing their cars.
· We will start off Thursday evening with a pay-as-you-go dinner at one of the best seafood restaurants in Austin. Pappadeaux’s is next door to the Hotel and has received many culinary awards for its great selection of foods. We will then return to the Hotel for an Ice Cream Social and a get to know you jawing session.
· Friday will include a ride on a Duck (amphibious vehicle) which will give you the chance, from Ladybird Lake, to see the ever changing skyline of Austin. Later that night, dress up in your old jeans or poodle skirts, penny loafers and bobby socks to join us for an old fashion Sock Hop in the ball room of the Crowne Plaza. We will have both chicken and beef fajitas with all the trimmings, while our favorite D.J. spins those oldies-but-goodies for us as you dance the night away.
· Saturday will be the day to get those shiny birds ready for judging. During the day, for those who do not have to stay, we will provide the opportunity for shopping at several different malls, or transportation to local downtown attractions such as the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum or the LBJ Library on the UT Campus. Saturday night is the grand Awards Banquet and we promise to have a menu worthy of a King and Queen. Pepper Crusted New York Steak or Boneless Breast Chicken Cordon Bleu will be our choice of entrees for the evening. The side dishes are too numerous to list and dessert promises to be wonderful as well. You will dine well that evening!
Then sadly, Sunday will be the day we say ”adios” to all of our Thunderbird friends and wish everyone a safe trip home.
We have made arrangements for great prices on rooms - $115.00 per night for two singles or a queen bed. Details on how to register is included on the registration form. We also can provide transportation from the airport should you decide not to drive. So with the hope that you all will join us, club president, Bob Roberts, and all the members of CCTC hope you will come and enjoy the Regional. Visit us at www.capitalcitythunderbirds.org
